Our
Story

The Dark Side of the Sky takes place across two countries: Slovenia and Croatia. You've probably heard of Croatia—one of the most stunning travel destinations you could ever visit. And no, I'm not being paid to say that. But I'm guessing you may not be as familiar with my country, Slovenia.

Slovenia is a small country nestled in the heart of Europe. It is a land of rich history and culture. From our capital, Ljubljana, you can drive to Venice, Italy, in about two and a half hours or reach Vienna, Austria, in a couple more. The town of Bled, with its iconic lake and island, is over a thousand years old. But our history stretches back much further—to the days of the Roman Empire, to gladiators, and even beyond. This is a land that has seen the rise and fall of empires, and each stone here has a story to tell.

Imagine a country that has it all: the majestic Alps with ski resorts, a breathtaking coastline with sandy beaches, vineyards that produce some of the finest wines in Europe, and ancient caves in the Karst region that will leave you in awe. This unique limestone plateau in the country's southwestern part is known for its dramatic landscapes, underground caves, sinkholes, and disappearing rivers.

Slovenia caters to all tastes and preferences, offering a chance to immerse yourself in its rich nature and culture.

And yes, we're proud of our legends. You've probably heard of Luka Dončić. Yep, Slovenian. Primož Roglič and Jure Robič in cycling, winning RAAM multiple times. The president of UEFA? Slovenian. Do you remember My Talking Tom, an app developed by the Slovenian group Outfit7? Four NASA astronauts are of Slovenian heritage, and famous Hollywood actress Ita Rina (and Katarina Čas) are Slovenian. And don't forget about Melania Trump, the first lady born in Slovenia.

Last but not least, there's love in Slovenia's name. The word "love" is embedded right there, and it's more than just a coincidence. It reflects the warmth and hospitality you'll experience visiting our country, and that says a lot.

Slovenia has a rich culture and history, a deep love for humor, and a warm embrace for everyone. We are always ready to greet you with open arms, whether in this story or in real life. You are not just a visitor; you are a part of our story.

Welcome to Slovenia.
